VCF Mestalla head coach, Miguel Ángel Angulo, assessed the first defeat of the season away to CD Roda on Matchday 11 in group VI of Tercera RFEF.
“We come away with a bitter-sweet taste in the mouth. We conceded against the run of play when we were dominating, and pushing to win the game.
We conceded from move we should not have given away following a corner kick and I have doubts about if it’s an offside goal, but it has been given.
Overall, the team have been brave and they have pushed to get the win and when you up the ante this things can happen.
There are positives to take from every game regardless of the scoreline. We knew we were up against tough opposition who were unbeaten and were yet to concede a goal at home and defend really well.
Perhaps a draw would have been the fairest result. They found many passing options through Meseguer and we struggled to stop their forays down the wings.
We corrected that at half-time and we dominated in the second half. Maybe the fairest result would have been a draw.
We have to take this defeat in our stride. It is part of football. They put a great shift in today. Sometimes effort and work-rate go unrewarded. We must now turn our attentions to the next game.
We are very much looking forward to it as we are capable of showcase our identity much more whilst away from home we have to adapt a lot more".
